About Me
Joseph J. O'Brien Jr.

After many years of teaching, I decided to change careers and attended law school. I pursued a career in litigation, trial law, and worked as an arbitrator and appellate arbitrator. I also served as a JAG officer in the New York Guard
Using my experience both as a writer and as a writing teacher, I’ve also tutored students in preparing effective college essays.
I hold bachelor’s and master’s degrees in English and earned my J.D. degree from Pace University School of Law where I was an Articles Editor on the International Law Journal. I am a member of the New York Bar. I am retired from the Bar in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Connecticut.
“Is law a second career choice for you? It was for me too. Let me show you how I used my first career experience to distinguish my application
to law school.”
